Awards and Recognitions

The VAGP Honors and Awards Committee annually honors the accomplishments of VAGP agencies, members or any person who has provided outstanding service to VAGP, and any VAGP members who have distinguished themselves in the areas of purchasing or materials management, involvement in association activities, and promotion of professional development not only for themselves but also for others.

At the Spring Conference, the committee may award the annual VAGP Professional Manager of the Year, the VAGP Professional Buyer of the Year, Life Membership (regular or retired), Distinguished Service and T. Gordon Sandridge Lifetime Achievement Awards.

At the Fall Conference, the Committee may award the T. Gordon Sandridge Lifetime Achievement Award, VAGP's most prestigious award, the Distinguished Service Award, Regular or Retired Life Membership Awards, the Volunteer of the Year Award, and the Leading Light Award.

Each year, VAGP also submits a Manager of the Year and Buyer of the Year nomination for consideration for the national awards from NIGP.


 

Buyer of the Year Award

Awarded on significant contributions to the advancement of the procurement profession and professional development.

Distinguished Service Award

The recipient of this award need not be a member of a procurement association or of the procurement profession but must be recognized for service related to purchasing. 

Leading Light Award

The purpose of this agency award program is to recognize an agency who has taken the "Lead" in the public procurement profession through innovative ideas and achievements that "Light" the way for other public procurement professionals.

Manager of the Year Award

Awarded on significant contributions to the advancement of the procurement profession and professional development.

Life Membership Award

VAGP has two categories of life membership. Individuals may be recommended for life membership for continuous and significant long-time service to VAGP. Life members are not required to pay dues to the association.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The T. Gordon Sandridge Lifetime Achievement Award is VAGP's most prestigious award. It is presented to an individual who possesses high ethical and moral standards, and is recognition of outstanding lifetime contributions and/or service to public procurement.

Volunteer of the Year Award

Established by the VAGP Board of Directors in 2006, the Volunteer of the Year Award was created to recognize a member or members displaying substantial volunteerism to the organization. This award recognizes those who go above and beyond the call of duty.

NIGP Awards

NIGP annually presents awards in categories recognizing outstanding contributions and service to the profession.
